Who’s Hiring is a weekly survey of companies showing the highest hiring activity for the week of 12/20/10.

The hospitality, business service, retail, health care, transportation, telecommunications and banking verticals are the top industries currently hiring based on a survey of active job advertisements from the nation’s leading job boards.

Not only is this valuable for job seekers, but for business analysts, corporate strategists, marketers, salespeople, investment analysts, financial advisers, and others who are interested in companies experiencing growth. Despite the recession, these companies are all expanding.

Total Job Openings week of 12/20/10:

Hospitality led hiring companies as Pizza Hut, Starbucks and Marriott continued heavy job advertisements. Business Service firms was next as IBM, SAIC, Deloitte, CSC and Ernst & Young were actively staffing.

Retail was hiring as Staples, Advance Auto Parts, Sears, Kmart, Blockbuster, GNC, Toys “R” Us, Lowe’s and Macy’s were gearing up for the holidays. Health care continued staffing as HCR ManorCare, Kaiser Permanente, Gentiva Health, DaVita, Genesis Healthcare, HCA Healthcare, Sibley Memorial Hospital, Community Health Systems, UnitedHealth Group, Apria Healthcare and Amedisys Home Health were top job advertisers.

Transportation company UPS also continued its holiday hiring season and remained in the top 10 hiring firms. Telecommunications was hiring with AT&T and Verizon still staffing actively.

Banking rounds out the top of the list as Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo were heavy advertisers.

Job Openings Added This Week – 12/20/10:

The hospitality, business service, transportation, telecommunications, automotive, retail, banking and health care verticals are the top industries with new job postings this week based on a survey of the nation’s leading job advertisements added during the past seven days for the week of 12/20/10.

Hospitality led new hiring firms adding advertisements this week as Pizza Hut, McCormick & Schmick’s and Hilton were staffing. Business service firms IBM, SAIC, ADP, Deloitte, Booz Allen and CSC were included in the top employers adding job advertisements this week.

Transportation remained in the top 10 as UPS continued its holiday hiring push adding new advertisements this week. Telecommunications advertised for new positions as Verizon and AT&T advertised for jobs this week.

Automotive is back – Volkswagon was one of the top firms adding job postings this week. Retail advertised openings this week as Blockbuster, JCPenny, Sears, Ross Stores, Lowe’s, Chico’s Fashions, Walmart and Staples all placed new job ads.

Banking continued staffing as Wells Fargo, JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America added advertisements this week. Health care added job advertisements as HCR Manorcare, Kaiser Permanente, Gentiva Health, Genesis Healthcare, Community Health Systems and UnitedHealth were staffing.
