A Job Seeker’s Letter To Santa

Dear Santa,

I’ve been a good job seeker this year … So how about a little love this year from Santa? Sorry if I sound ungrateful, but you were a bad Santa last Christmas – fruitcakes, a Sponge Bob Squarepants Snuggie, an Obama Chia Head, artwork only the artists’ mother could love, and Uncle Fred constantly asking me to “pull his finger.” Maybe it was funny when I was 8 … not when I’m 35.

Santa, You’ve got to to a better job this year – Here’s what job seekers need:

  1. A killer “fishing resume”, complete with a personal branding statement, employer value statements, the right keywords, and a skills inventory
  2. A clear concise personal brand, identifying my unique Subject Matter Expertise
  3. A subscription to reCareered’s website – wait that’s free! (just sign up at http://feedburner.google.com/fb/a/mailverify?uri=Recareered)
  4. MORE INTERVIEWS!
  5. A higher resume response rate
  6. A great cover letter. Wait a second … you gave me one of those last year and I just learned employers don’t read them! Instead, how about a great strategy for job search without cover letters.
  7. A bigger, better network
  8. A Resublog

  9. A project plan for my job search
  10. A new job!

Job seekers, please comment…What’s on your Christmas list this year?
